The Forschungszentrum Jülich requires about 170,000 liter of Liquid Helium (LHe) each year. Purchasing such high amounts is more uneconomical than the re-liquefaction of the used LHe. Therefore various experiments are connected to a widely ramified helium-transferline system. At the experiments the evaporated Helium is picked up and directed through transferlines back to the liquefaction-system where at first it is stored in a gas tank. By running though several filtration and purification processes the helium lipuefaction takes place. Stored in special tanks the liquefied helium is ready for use for the clients.
The high demand of helium leaded the Forschungszentrum Jülich to the election of the L140 standard liquefier system of Linde Kryotechnik AG. As from autumn the L140 will increase the liquefaction capacity.
